The course will combine lectures and problem sets with hands-on experimental work in the laboratory, including building your own femtosecond fiber laser.

- Linear and nonlinear pulse propagation: Optical solitons, pulse compression, and supercontinua. Femtosecond laser frequency combs.
- Laser dynamics: Single-mode, multi-mode, Q-switching, mode locking.
- Pulse characterization.
- Laser amplifiers and parametric amplifiers.
- Attosecond Sources and Attosecond Science.
