HELIOS Helmholtz-Lund International Graduate School

On January 19th we had our virtual launch event with talks on instrumentation challenges in atomic, laser, particle and nano-bio physics. Our first cohort of PhD students gave interesting and engaging presentations about their projects. We are proud to have assembled such a talented and multi-disciplinary team, which will further grow over the coming years.

The first HELIOS event was an opportunity for the PhD students and the Principal Investigators (PIs) to introduce themselves and their work, but also to learn about the main concepts and goals of the school. During the morning session interesting scientific presentations were held by the PIs, where in total 12 projects from different research fields, namely particle physics, nano-bio and nano physics and atomic, molecular and laser physics, were introduced. The evening session was then dedicated to the students’ presentation, where in total 10 PhD candidates from University of Hamburg, Lund University and DESY explained their projects and challenges related to their work.
